Currently Creating Week 1

I named this blog The Quiet Minutes, because at my current stage of life any free time I get can be counted in minutes, not hours. These short pockets of time I usually have the choice between cleaning (um, no*) or creating which takes the form of knitting, sewing, soap making, crocheting, drawing, or writing. The other option is reading which I choose half the time.

I am what is known as a non-monogamous crafter and have an embarrassing amount of UFOs (unfinished objects) scattered around my house.

I have decided to be more intentional about what I work on during these quiet minutes. I have a plan to make at least one thing for each family member, starting with the husband. I am knitting him a hiking vest to wear as a second layer when he does his autumn and winter hiking. I am using stash yarn for this project which is another goal this year.

I am also hand stitching a quilt for my youngest, this I find to have a wonderfully relaxing effect on me, I can do this project while the kids are playing without fear of messing it up:

* I do actually clean, but not when I have a minute to myself!

The other creating I do, when I have help with the littles:

I love making soap, here is a collage I put together of some of the soaps I have made over the past year. What do you like to create when you have time?
